1. Would you call yourself an enthusiast, obsessive, semi-pro or professional poker player?
I am an enthusiast and a wanna be semi-pro
2. Is there any female player playing today that you see as an ambassador to ladies poker?
I have great respect for Jennifer Harmon and see her as an ambassador to ladies poker.
3. Do you see there being any difference between men and women playing poker?
I love poker because I can play with anyone including men and beat them at the game. I play 3 to 4 tournaments a week and feel that overall women should be playing better than they do and should not be intimidated by men. There is nothing to be intimidated by. Men do have a tendency to allow themselves to be over run by testosterone and women have a tendency to allow themselves to be over run by the aggressive male. The key here is that they allow them selves to go to these places and the other key her is that this is only a tendency. I do believe women should be showing much more strength in the professional world of tournament poker.
4. Big tournaments like the WSOP have recently been under attack for their commercialization of the game. Of the major poker tournaments today like the EPT, WPT and WSOP which are the best?
WSOP rocks, commercialization is a big part of communication, and that is what the world see’s. Nothing wrong with it. Tournament poker is what it is regardless of how commercialized it becomes. Commercialization is more for the common man and does not discount WSOP in my eyes. As long as the tournaments are run fair and consistent there are no problems. We want to be viewed by the masses.
5. What would you say are the biggest differences between online and live poker?
Online vs live poker is something I am very curious about. I see many online players that are uncomfortable at the table but play a great aggressive game. Online is good if you cant play live but I think the game is most true in a live state.
6. From your perspective do you think such a big deal should be made about the men entering the ladies event at the WSOP?
Yes, I think we should make a scene about men entering the womens event. We are at a turning point in society where women are still needing this event and the men just need to respect that. They need to stay out of it and let the women grow. In time I see no longer needing a womens event. We as women are actually finding our independence in life more than ever and we are learning that we can compete with the men, at least in this field. As for now, many women are not completely comfortable with this idea yet and are still in need of a ladies event. I am surprised any men even want to play in the ladies event. I think its a matter of time before we see a few women at the final table in the main event on a regular basis. There is no reason we shouldnt be there with the men.
7. Vanessa Rousso, Liv Bovree – both have won major EPT tournaments in recent history. If you could win any single event which would it be?
I would love to win a WSOP event.
8. And who would you want to play Heads-up on the final table?
I would love to play heads up with Chris Ferguson. I just have a good feeling about that one.
9. Cash games are a different breed of poker. Puggy Pearson said the real value was in playing limit Holdem, others have said that Omaha offers the best value and others say NL Holdem with the right bankroll. In your opinion where is the money on the cash tables?
I dont have an opinion on cash games. I am a tournament only player.
10. Do you still see yourself playing poker in ten years? If yes, where would you hope to be?
I would expect myself to be playing in 10 years. I should be a much stronger player. I love this game and my passion drives me to become better and my patience allows me to improve my game.
11. Would you stop or encourage your daughter to become a professional poker player? Why?
I would encourage my son or daughter to play poker if it was what they enjoyed. I think we all need to listen to our hearts and be strong enough to follow. Life is short and we are so lucky to find love whether it is in cards or any other aspect of life.
